How’s the Market?

It depends. Which market?

Within every market there are many markets. While we can measure overall trends, track values broadly, and monitor volume, the market that matters most is yours.

Are you selling a home on a rural lot with sweeping views and no neighbors in sight? Or are you selling on a small city lot surrounded on all sides? Is there a view, and if so, of what? What about elevation? In Homer, snow zones and garden benches make a difference. Southern or northern exposure matters too, especially when it comes to how much winter you’ll experience.

Even within residential real estate, there are subsets. Condominiums and multifamily homes don’t perform the same as single-family properties. And that says nothing of the commercial segment, which is its own market entirely.

So when I hear question “How’s the market?” the best answer is that it’s the start of a longer, more specific conversation. One of the most valuable things a realtor does is help narrow the focus to your property’s market. At Story Real Estate, we do this every day.

Even if you are unsure about selling, we can provide an up-to-date market valuation using comparable sales adjusted to your property’s unique features. This is a free service, and you’re welcome to take advantage of it any time.
